Hello everyone! My name is Ashley, and I am the photographer behind Domino Photography. I live in Jamestown, ND and serve the surrounding areas – but I’m originally from Park Rapids, MN. I came to Jamestown for college, met my husband, Ross, and stayed! From the University of Jamestown I have a Bachelors in Mass Communications, and through the University of Arizona I recently graduated with my Masters of Business Administration. I work full time for Edward Jones and do this in my “free” time.
I wanted to make this post so you can get to know me a little bit and share some FAQs about my business.
I’ve been taking pictures for years, and have been photographing families, couples, littles, and seniors for eight(ish) years. I moved into my small studio in November of 2022 and use it for headshots, milestone sessions, mini sessions, and women’s empowerment sessions.
Being able to go in and build different sets in my studio gives me literal joy. I am a very creative person and having this space to work and capture people is beyond where I ever thought I could be with my photography.
General Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT GENRES DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH?
Most of my sessions are families and couples. I also photograph a fair amount of seniors and kids for milestone sessions like birthdays. I also do simple headshots in my studio along with empowering women through boudoir sessions. I also take on a wedding or two per year.
HOW DO YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE?
This is a fun one. I will start off by saying that I will 100% always get the nice picture for the Christmas card. The standard “look at me and smile”. HOWEVER, I also love movement in photography. Sometimes I refer to myself as a “Promptographer” because I’d rather make you move and laugh and capture that than the classic “look at me and smile”.
WHAT IF THERE IS INCLEMENT WEATHER FOR OUR SCHEDULED SESSION?
That’s fine! North Dakota is known for our weather to turn on a dime. I’ll always be in touch the day of our session and we can call it as early or as close to your session as you want. Umbrellas are always a fun option!
Beyond that, I always have backup dates in mind. I never fully book myself in case we need to pick a new date.
WHAT IS YOUR STANDARD TURNAROUND TIME FOR MY GALLERY?
I strive to get your gallery to you within four weeks. It truly depends on the time of year if it is any faster than that, but I would rather under promise and over deliver than set unrealistic expectations when it comes to your gallery.
Weddings are another beast. I try to tackle those within 60 days.
HOW WILL MY GALLERY BE DELIVERED?
Your photos will be delivered to your email with a link to your online gallery. From there, you can download your photos with the provided details. My galleries are automatically set to expire in two weeks after delivery – but I understand that life happens. Just shoot me a message and I will reactivate your gallery until you download.
WILL YOU TRAVEL?
Yes! I will shoot within a 30 mile radius of Jamestown for no additional cost. Beyond that it depends on how far we are going. I am glad to provide a quote based on your desired location, just let me know when submitting the contact form.
HOW DO I BOOK?
Best place to start is by filling out my contact form. Provide any details that might be relevant, preferred dates, location, and a little about what you’re looking for! I’ll follow up with you as soon as I can. If need be I’ll ask to schedule a call, FaceTime, meet for a drink or coffee. All depending on how involved your request is. After that, I ask for 25% down on any booking that is over $100. The remainder is due 7 days prior to your session date, or 30 days if it is a wedding.
